Documentation :: Administration :: Manage User Groups
User groups in ScriptRunner not only provide a means of grouping users to have different permissions, but also are used to control which scripts users are able to access.
Creating An User Group
- From the menu, select Manage User Groups.
- If you are using LDAP or local authentication it is strongly recommended that you always force users to use 2FA by leaving the 2FA Required option checked, especially for user groups that will have administrative access to ScriptRunner.
- Select the permissions you want user in this group to have.

Editing An User Group
- From the menu, select Manage User Groups.
- The Edit Group window should now show. Make the modifications required to the group.
- If you are using LDAP or local authentication it is strongly recommended that you always force users to use 2FA by leaving the 2FA Required option checked, especially for user groups that will have administrative access to ScriptRunner.
- Any removal of permissions from a user group will immediately take affect. Users may need to log out and back in for any added permissions to apply however.
Removing An User Group
- From the menu, select Manage User Groups.
- If there are still users assigned to the user group you attempt to remove then you will receive an error. A confirmation prompt will show in the bottom left corner of the page if your remove request was successful.
